Characteristics of a 7 and 8 Year Old
In the second-grade classroom, we use the online application called Class Dojo (an online point system that tracks good/bad behaviors of students) so students earn reward points to choose from fun prizes on Fridays. Parents can opt in to have an account to track behaviors. The special teachers (art, gym, computers) will award the class points as well. We also do brain breaks during the day with Go Noodle, Life Tree Kids or other games. The students will have access to specialized chairs to allow them to have a little bit of movement while at their desks such as wobble chairs and ball chairs. We also use Smartboard technology as well as Chromebooks. For digital communications with parents, I will use the Remind application and email. We have a blast while learning in second grade! This is a big year for sacraments with our students as they will make their First Reconciliation and First Communion. Yeah! This is all very exciting! We are going to have great year 😊. I am looking forward to it.
In Second Grade, the students will focus on making their First Reconciliation and First Communion this year. This will follow the Diocese of Springfield Faith Formation Guidelines for learning. The students typically make their First Reconciliation in February and make their First Communion in May. Our Director of Religious Education for Faith Formation is Mrs. Michele Witowski with the Saint Elizabeth Parish, in Ludlow. Her email is mwitowski@stelizabethludlow.org.
